Salar de Uyuni

Yestderday morning we left the city of Oruro for Potosi, the worlds highest city at its 4100m. We had lunch there and the idea was to stay the night and look at the city who was the size of London in the 17th centurey due to its very rich silver mountain.

But we thought we would check out tomorrows road first... it was supposed to be terrible but instead  we found a completely new paved road, so we set off without ever seeing potosi really. Little did we know that only the first 20ks were finished and the remaining 180k was literraly driving a workplace as they only had one road you had to drive on it while they were working on it. Bumby is just the first name.

We finally arrived in Uyuni after dark without proper headlights (no fun driving), found a hotel and slept after dinner.

This morning we set off early and went to the salt flats (Salar de uyuni) which we were strongly recomended not to do with our car. Seen in retrospect, they were wrong!

We had the most amazing time, spinning the car, playing driving the absolute max speed of the car. And of course the normal tourist things like licking the salt.
You might wonder what is so cool with just a big plain of salt. But let me tell you... its wicked!!!

Then we bumped along another 200k of useless roads and another 100 of tarmac and reached back here to Oruro just to realize that Andrey is sick so we´ll see what happens tomorrow. The plan was to go to Copacabana by Lake Titicaca

Having a rental rocks and we sure are getting our moneys worth :-)
