The salar is absolutely huge, we drove our car at max speed (150+km/h) and still it took us a long time to get to the "island".
You can still see the mountains like 40km away (outside the salar) but other than that it's just white ground and blue sky.
I don't know if the salar always have this pattern or if that changes with seasons, rain etc.

Just standing there and looking on a huge flat surface as long as the eye would reach, really cool

You could fall trough the salt btw, we saw some holes like about 50cm deep.
Would not be fun to go trough with the car at 150km/h
